From the Founder:
Hi. I'm Duncan True. Clinical Supervisor and Licensed Provider.
Like many others, I was born into a family that wasn't connected. Through my own mix of hardships & benefits, and a dedicated pursuit of understanding, I learned that the strength to move forward doesn't come from where you started. It comes from what you choose to do with what's still in front of you. The difficulty is in seeing the bigger picture in the harder moments.
This is a challenging journey to walk alone. I founded Availia to make that path easier: a practice designed to help you find your footing, take control of your life, and live with a clear sense of direction you choose for yourself.
How I work:
Whether you are completing a defined court requirement, taking a mandatory compliance evaluation, or seeking individual or professional growth, my goal is to help you succeed.
I built Availia on practical, evidence-based methods designed for real-world situations, eliminating guesswork so you know exactly what steps to take next. Guided by my background in clinical behavioral health, I don't operate through judgment or pressure. Instead, my focus is simple: identify what isn't working, build on what does, and help you execute a clear plan that respects your experience and gets you moving forward again.
Experience & Credentials:
My work in behavioral health is shaped by years of direct experience bridging personal background and deliberate career trajectory.
After completing my undergraduate degree in sociology, building my first career from basement dishwasher to fine-dining seafood sous-chef, and completing post-graduate education in psychology, addiction, and co-occurring disorders, I began my clinical career managing caseloads and providing behavioral therapy within inpatient and forensic facilities.
I later served as a regional assessment specialist evaluating addiction severity and treatment readiness for the Department of Corrections (DOC) before providing specialized behavioral support in an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) at the Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD). After later overseeing a corporate utilization management department coordinating clinical documentation and service billing, I returned to direct client services while supervising an outpatient DUI assessment and counseling agency.
It is only with this trajectory of experience and consistent feedback from clients and colleagues alike that I took this step.
